Amanda Watson
PhD Student, AEC Special Projects Leader
Amanda Watson is a Ph.D. student and Special Projects Leader with the Assessment and Evaluation Centre for Education at Queen’s University. Amanda completed her M.Ed. at Memorial University of Newfoundland, which included an exploration of how secondary English teachers enact curriculum, and the relationship among beliefs, curriculum knowledge, content knowledge, and pedagogical knowledge. Amanda also completed an Honours B.A. at McMaster University.
Amanda's practical teaching experience includes twenty years as a high school English, mathematics, and drama teacher in the Ontario public education system, and six years as a district coordinator for assessment and evaluation, interdisciplinary literacy, and secondary curriculum. Amanda’s research interests include the role of foundational assessment principles and assessment pedagogy in a 21st century learning context.
